Maureen’s path to physical therapy was inspired by her own research while training for her first marathon in college. While learning more about the physical therapy profession, she became interested in pelvic health, which was an underserved and emerging specialty at the time. The idea of helping others return to the activities that are meaningful in their everyday lives was at the core of her decision to pursue physical therapy. During physical therapy school, Maureen took every opportunity to learn about pelvic health, including completing a clinical rotation in the specialty.

Maureen has completed coursework through Herman & Wallace focused on the foundations of pelvic health treatment. She has also taken courses through the Institute of Physical Art focused on manual therapy and motor control training.

Maureen’s approach to patient care considers the whole person, with the pelvic floor as one very important piece of the puzzle. She considers the impact of the pelvic floor, surrounding muscles and joints, and movement patterns when working with patients. As a detail-oriented person, she has also learned to “zoom out” and think creatively throughout her career, helping patients work toward their goals. Maureen brings compassion, empathy, and a listening ear to understanding each patient’s experience before and throughout physical therapy treatment.

Outside the clinic, Maureen enjoys spending time with her family, taking walks around the neighborhood, visiting local parks, exploring the Chicago Botanic Garden, and attending Cubs games. Her favorite ways to stay active include running and yoga.
