Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when the pelvic floor muscles and connective tissues can no longer support the pelvic organs—leading to a sensation of pressure, heaviness, or bulging in the vaginal area. While common, it’s not something you have to live with. Physical therapy can help manage symptoms and improve daily function.

Common Diagnoses and Conditions We Treat:

  • Uterine prolapse

  • Bladder prolapse (cystocele)

  • Rectal prolapse (rectocele)

  • Vaginal vault prolapse (post-hysterectomy)

  • Enterocele (small bowel prolapse)

  • Postpartum pelvic organ prolapse

  • Mild to moderate prolapse managed conservatively

  • Associated symptoms: pelvic pressure, incomplete emptying, low back/pelvic pain, urinary or bowel dysfunction
